The Lancaster City Democratic Committee, the oldest Democratic committee in Lancaster County, enthusiastically endorsed José Urdaneta for state senate on Saturday, June 21. The Committee also endorsed Bruce Slater for Congress.

I believe that the people of the 13th district deserve a Senator who will represent their interests and not special interest groups.  I will listen to your concerns, and I will fight your battles. This district needs a senator who will get things done and not just pad his pockets with a pension or the pockets of those who support his campaigns. GRAND OPENING of the Joint Democratic Campaign Headquarters

Democratic candidates, Bruce Slater, Mike Sturla, and José Urdaneta hosted an open house at their joint campaign headquarters, 151 North Queen Street, on Friday, June 6th. The grand opening coincided with the popular First Friday event that draws crowds downtown each month to sample a wide array of art, food, and music. 

The Grand Opening drew more than one hundred visitors during the course of the evening.

Bruce Slater is the Democratic candidate for the 16th Congressional district which encompasses Lancaster County and parts of Berks and Chester counties. Mike Sturla is the incumbent representatives from the City of Lancaster, running for his 12th term and José Urdaneta is running for state senate in the 13 PA senate district. We in The 13th senatorial district truly have a chance to elect the most qualified person to represent us.  Few people have impressed me like Jose Urdaneta. His commitment and involvement to his family and community would lend well to everyone in the 13th district. His open mind ness and ability to work with everyone, including those that have opposing views is praiseworthy and refreshing. These characteristics coupled with his business experience make him the ideal choice to represent York and Lancaster in Harrisburg.

About José Urdaneta...

Born in 1965 in New York to a family who focused on education, José was encouraged to pursue his interests in art and science, eventually earning a  Degree in Medicine. Later, he chose instead to pursue a career in photography.  Firmly rooted in Lancaster County, he and his wife are enjoying their careers and raising their two daughters.

José has spent the past 20 years in various fields within photography. In 1989, he opened his own business. Currently, Urdaneta Photography is located in Lancaster City. His business concentrates on weddings, communions, and many other celebrations throughout Lancaster and York Counties. He has worked with members of the York and Lancaster communities from all walks of life. He appreciates and sees value in the ethnic, cultural and economic diversity of the 13th senate district.

José is a fiscal conservative. He knows the importance and the value of being fiscally responsible. Being self-employed he realizes that he has only himself and his family on which to rely.  And should he make a wrong business decision, it is he and his family who will pay the consequences.

José Urdaneta was elected to the Lancaster City Council in 2006. He Chairs of the Economic Development Committee and serves on  the Property Reinvestment Board. He is also a member of the following organizations:
